SHA is pleased to host The Family Advisory/Dialogue Group composed of family and consumer leaders. The purpose of the workgroup is to provide a statewide structure for networking and information sharing related to supportive housing.
The goal of the workgroup is to create a family/consumer voice in the supportive housing industry, to select advocacy issues from a family/consumer perspective that SHA can advance, and to inform the SHA membership of family priorities and ideas. Through this process we hope to facilitate a stronger and broader array of supportive housing in NJ through examples of family innovation, generation of new ideas, as well as create a forum for families to communicate and learn about the supportive housing field and how they can avail themselves of its services.
Participants are family and consumer leaders representing the supportive housing needs of people with disabilities in NJ (people with mental illness and addictions, developmental disabilities and physical challenges). A family/consumer leader, for purposes of this workgroup, is one who is an active member of a county or regional family/consumer group that has special interest in supportive housing. Participating family and consumer leaders agree to work for the benefit of all people with disabilities, to attend meetings, to bring information from their local organizations and disseminate what they have learned back to their constituencies.
Meetings take place quarterly at a time and place chosen by the workgroup.
