Housing Navigator Resources
SHA is pleased to share the following helpful resources that were original offered as part of the our housing navigator course
Housing Search Tools
Finding affordable housing or an affordable apartment to rent can be a daunting task. Housing developers who create affordable housing projects are required to advertise widely when units become available. Recently this requirement has been broadened to include digital marketing. While there is still a shortage of affordable homes in NJ, more websites are available every day to make the search easier.
Interactive Tools and Calculators
The amount of SNAP benefits a person received is based on a number of factors such as the number of people in a household, the amount of income, and the amount of basic expenses. People with disabilities are often surprised to learn that their monthly SNAP benefit is lower than expected. This calculator helps to resolve the mystery by allowing user to input basic information and variations in order to see the difference in benefit amounts received.
What factors should be considered when evaluating when it is more prudent to buy vs. rent a home? This calculator can help answer this question by taking the costs associated with buying a house and computes the equivalent monthly rent.
Person Centered Planning
There is no one size fits all in supportive housing.
